This just started. I have one litter box in the bathroom; one in my bedroom; and four downstairs (I have nine cats). But for some reason they all want to hang around upstairs and end-up only using the bathroom one. Of course it fills up fast.
I think he thinks it's too smelly and heads to the tub (at least it's not the floor or carpet). I clean it up, scrub with soap, spray the spot with cologne- and of course change the litter box. And he does it again.
He's a very strange cat. He appeared on the porch as a 3-mo. old and I adopted him. He won't eat cat food; I have to buy meat like pork or chicken and chop it into bits for him. He also likes shredded sharp cheddar cheese. He sleeps on top of the refrigerator and sometimes acts spacy, like he doesn't know me or know where he's at. He won't drink water out of bowls; he drinks from the fish tank pump.
Why are cats so weird?

You have NINE cats OP? Perhaps he's acting spacy or weird because, I dunno, it's a bit CROWDED in your house?

I would take the cat to vet for a medical exam. When an animal changes their elimination pattern look at that first.

OP is the Mia Farrow of cat owning. Kook.

Said the person who has nine animals shitting in boxes throughout the house.

OP you can't feed a cat nothing but chopped up chicken and pork. If you're going to feed raw, you MUST add supplements to it, including taurine. You're creating a host of health problems for this cat by not doing so. And stop feeding it cheese! For Christ's sake, do a simple Google search on feline dietary needs.
As to the number of cats you have, I hope your house is at least 4,500 square feet. You need 500 square feet of living space PER CAT for a cat to be truly content.

Spray it with white vinegar, not cologne if you want the smell to go away.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 14, 2021 12:51 AM |
You have too many cats. This is not good for the animals. Stop collecting living things and please see to adopting at least half of them out; it must be misery for them. I also strongly suspect that there's an underlying mental illness that compels you to have 9 of anything. Please seek help.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 14, 2021 12:52 AM |
R2 is absolutely correct. Take the cat to the vet. Almost all inappropriate elimination is related to an illness.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 14, 2021 12:52 AM |
It's because the cat smells the drain and that drain is at floor level. Otherwise, the cat would be pooping in the sink.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 14, 2021 12:55 AM |
You'd probably be shitting in the tub too if you had eight crazy roommates.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 14, 2021 1:13 AM |
Nine if you count OP, the craziest roommate of all.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 14, 2021 1:21 AM |
OP, the standard number of litter boxes is cats+1.
If you have nine cats, you need 10 litter boxes, not 6.
Your cats are pooping in the tub to send you a message: get us more boxes because there aren't enough of them you cheap SOB.
Cats are notoriously finnicky about litter boxes and actually don't want to share.

Can you picture the hair in that refrigerator?
It's shitting in the tub because it's the only space without hoarder-heaps and cat shit.

...or the kitchen sink, which is what my cat did when he was new to my home. He used the tub too, but finding cat shit in the kitchen sink was a special surprise.

You’re one of those “crazy cat ladies”
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 14, 2021 2:08 AM |
Your place must totally smell nasty
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 14, 2021 2:08 AM |
If I found cat shit in my sink, the garbage man would be finding cat corpse in the trash.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 14, 2021 2:09 AM |
Never threaten or speak ill of a cat.
Don't you know nothin'?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 14, 2021 2:10 AM |
It's OP's fault. I knew a cat that expressed its displeasure over a dirty cat box by shitting on the owner's pillow. That's what OP deserves.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 14, 2021 2:11 AM |
I scoop twice daily, and add baking soda and fresh litter on top. And change them all out and wash them every 3 days.
My house does not 'smell'.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 14, 2021 2:26 AM |
You do NOT have enough litter boxes. There should be one per cat. You're revolting, OP. I can only imagine what your own hygiene must be like.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 14, 2021 2:30 AM |
I have NEVER met someone with more than five pets who didn't have, the smell. You might be nose blind to it, but it's there. The only way its not true is if you have HUGE palatial home, but if you did you would have more litters

If a cat is going to the bathroom outside the catpan, it a problem. Go to the vet—not Datalounge.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 14, 2021 3:06 AM |
Also—is this a stealth animal cruelty thread? Datalounge has a fetish for animal cruelty. Just checking.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 14, 2021 3:07 AM |
R27, can you read? Everyone on this thread is taking the cat's side.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 14, 2021 3:10 AM |
OP, don't use cologne or white vinegar to get rid of cat pee smell. Wet the affected area with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then blot. Also, put a couple more litter boxes upstairs.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 14, 2021 3:24 AM |
OP wears the cologne on herself so she can't smell her disgusting house.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 14, 2021 3:26 AM |

I'm sick of OP and the other eight cats.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 14, 2021 3:27 AM |
My dog loves eating cat poop. Maybe you could get some dogs to eat the poop of your nine cats? If you get big dogs, I think four would be enough. Hope that helps.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 14, 2021 3:29 AM |
[quote]Spray it with white vinegar, not cologne if you want the smell to go away.
Don't take this advice. Cats don't like to be sprayed.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 14, 2021 3:30 AM |
The cat should shit on OP's face.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 14, 2021 3:32 AM |
Did you ask the other cats?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 14, 2021 6:11 AM |
Too many cats, not enough litter boxes.

On second thought, too many cats, no matter how many litter boxes.
